Residents support council in ‘cars for sale’ clampdown

Redditch Borough Council is taking action on ‘cars for sale’ which have been parked on grass verges around Redditch.

As part of its commitment to creating a clean, safe place to live, the council has revised its street policy which will give officers powers to tackle this problem  and other issues including to consider instigating legal proceedings.

It came into effect on March 1 and means that offenders who leave ‘cars for sale’ on grass verges, main roads or drives could be fined up to £1000 or even face enforcement action.

Council Leader Cllr Carole Gandy said: “There is a problem in the town with cars being parked up in public locations.

“They can cause visual obstruction and damage to verges and they also prevent us mowing and maintaining the verges.

“What’s more they are unsightly and we want people to love where they live. This new policy will mean the Council can take action – and we will.”

But as it has been pointed out the council officers wont use common sense they will enforce it to the letter. you will be reading that cars parked on their own drives will be targeted and idiot magistrates will be dishing out fines or enforcement officers will be employed by the council and in order to justify their jobs will be given a quota of tickets to hand out as a revenue raiser.
