Councillor appeared  in court after failing to provide breath test

Peter Whittaker appeared before Magistrates in Redditch Worcestershire Today (Tuesday) to answer the charge of failing to provide a breath test after a three car smash on November 20th  in Feckenham.

He spoke only to confirm his name and address at the short hearing in Court number one and was unable to make a plea due to his legal team awaiting the outcome of medical tests.

Mr whittaker a Conservative councillor since 1999 left Court with senior members of the Bromsgrove Conservative Association.

Friends of Mr Whittaker tore banners and swore at protesters who had called on Councillor Whittaker to resign.

Councillor Norton (Pictured below) who sits on neighbouring Redditch Borough Council is alleged to of been involved in the incident outside Redditch Magistrates Court.

A National newspaper Photographer caught the incident  taking place outside the Court.

The Public gallery was overflowing with Press interest in the case.

He was granted unconditional bail to appear before Redditch Magistrates on 11th January 2012 at 0930am where he must make a plea.Feckenham crash involving Councillor Peter Whittaker

Mr Whittaker had previously been the subject of an investigation To establish whether the Councillor  had breached the Code of Conduct in failing to provide his Register of Interests form within 28 days of the Council adopting the new Code of Conduct. Details can be found below$
